Peter Barrett Joins Genworth Financial To Lead New Retirement Income and Wealth Management Business In Europe

London (May 19, 2008) – Leading industry figure Peter Barrett has joined Genworth Financial
as Senior Vice President, to prepare the ground for growth in Retirement Income and Wealth
Management products in the UK and other European markets.

Prior to joining Genworth’s International business segment in London, Barrett was Managing
Director of Charcol, having previously held senior management roles with Bradford and Bingley,
Goldfish and GE Life.

“The aim is to build upon our leadership position in other products lines across Europe, where
we have strong distribution partnerships and a reputation for best in class service,” said Bob
Brannock, president of Genworth’s International business in Europe and Canada. “Peter brings
considerable local knowledge that will allow us to leverage our Retirement Income and Wealth
Management expertise, in markets outside of the United States”.

Peter Barrett Biography

Peter Barrett is Senior Vice President for Genworth's Retirement and Protection business in Europe. He is responsible for growing the company's operations outside of the United States, focussing primarily in the retirement income and wealth management markets.

Before joining Genworth Financial, Peter was Managing Director of Charcol, the UK's leading mortgage broker where his focus was to grow the business through a multi channel strategy, consisting of a national branch network, telephone centre and online platform.

Prior to this, Peter was Managing Director, Retail of Bradford & Bingley PLC and was responsible for running the bank network of 210 branches as well as their estate agency business of over 300 branch offices. Peter was also responsible for managing the MarketPlace at Bradford and Bingley, which at the time was the UK's largest Independent Financial Adviser(IFA). During this time, Peter
was a member of the British Bankers Association Retail Committee.

Ahead of joining B&B, Peter was Managing Director of Goldfish, a leading credit card company in the UK, where he led the creation of a new bank in partnership with Lloyds TSB and was a board director of Centrica Financial Services, whose other business was the AA Financial and Insurance Services.

Peter also spent six years with Genworth's former parent, GE, where he held a number of roles including Managing Director of GE Life.

Peter was educated at East Surrey College, UK and is based in London.
