Sven Strüver helps to raise €11,822 for Genworth Financial’s Putts for Charity Initiative at the Deutsche Bank Players’ Championship

Sven Strüver helps to raise €11,822 for Genworth’s Putts for Charity initiative

Hamburg, August 2, 2007: Genworth Financial's innovative Putts for Charity initiative raised €11,822 for The Children's Hospice Home Care Service, Frankfurt and the charity of The European Tour players, GOLFAID, with the help of Sven Strüver at last week's Deutsche Bank Players' Championship of Europe.

Strüver's one-putt, taken at the specially constructed three-hole putting green at the Genworth exhibition booth, was rewarded with a €5,000 donation from the insurer, kick-starting several days of fundraising fun where every one-putt made by professionals participating at the tournament earned €2 for the charities.

Visitors to the tournament were also given the opportunity to contribute by attempting their own one-putt, netting a further €2 to the charities for every hole completed in one stroke.

Marcel Globisch, Head of the Children's Hospice Home Care Department, German Children's Hospice Society commended the initiative, saying:

"We are absolutely delighted to be named as one of two charity organisations that will benefit from the wonderful Putts for Charity event. As our work for children with terminal illnesses and their families mainly depends on donations, the money raised here will help us to continue the care provided for the families in their homes.

"We would like to thank Genworth Financial, the players and those attending the tournament for this unique support. We are very proud to be chosen as a partner in this international project."

"Putts for Charity is a fun way to link our sponsorship of The European Tour Statistics to our corporate value, Heart," added Bob Brannock, President of Genworth Financial's international business. "We are delighted to support our chosen charities in this way."

The event is the third of its kind to be held by Genworth at European Tour tournaments and coincides with the company's local sponsorships. More than £13,000 was raised at the BMW Championship in the UK with a further €12,000 donated at Ireland's Smurfit Kappa European Open.
