Genworth’s sponsorship of the European Tour has provided an effective vehicle for the birth and development of an innovative fundraising concept: ‘Putts for Charity’. Since its inception in 2007 ‘Putts for Charity’ has benefited charities both large and small across Europe and is aligned closely to Genworth’s commitment to community involvement. Last year the initiative raised over €179,000 for good causes.

Through a collaborative partnership between Genworth, the European Tour and its player’s charity, this initiative challenges both the general public and professional golfers to make a successful ‘one putt’ at stops along the European Tour. For each successful putt, the Genworth Foundation makes a donation to support a local charity. In 2009 the beneficiary will be the SOS Children’s Villages who have a Pan European presence.

The Genworth Foundation additionally provides funding to ‘Habitat for Humanity’, an international charity dedicated to building affordable housing for low-income families throughout the world.
Funds are donated to supporting construction of new homes, renovations of existing homes and apartments, as well as providing operational support for the organisation.  Genworth employees continue to provide volunteering support for ‘Habitat’ projects both in the UK and Poland.
